About Me:
Dr. Maritza Irizarry, kindheartedly known as “La Pediatra del Valle del Sol,” was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where she earned her Doctor in Medicine degree in 1983. She completed her training as a specialist in Pediatrics, a field in which she has worked ever since.
Dr. Irizarry moved to Phoenix, Arizona from Puerto Rico in the summer of 1994. Posteriorly, she founded Sunshine Pediatrics to serve our community.
Dr. Irizarry is an active member of the Arizona Latin-American Medical Association (ALMA) and has previously served as its president. She frequently participates in health fairs and other community events and has been a speaker at various conferences, schools, the Hispanic Women’s Conference, and the Latino Institute.
She has appeared in health segments on Univisión, Telemundo, channels 3, 5, and 12, among other television stations, as well as on several radio programs. From September 2010 to October 2012, she hosted the TV show “Cuida Tu Salud” on Channel 44.
Currently, she remains actively involved in the radio show Hombres y Mujeres Únicas, where she educates the community on important health topics.
